Power Steering fault Scenic Dynamique 1.4

Post by jonnya »

Hello all, I have a Renault Scenic Dynamique 1.4 16v 2004 79k.
The power steering has stopped working completely. I have taken it in to the main dealer who resets the ecu , the power steering works fine for 50 yards or 2 miles then the steering randomly stops working again. The fault codes are df035 variable power steering and df002 ecu. The readout on dash says internal faults with steering column. The quote for repair is about £2000. Is there an alternative solution around this problem or is the car not worth repairing? The car is in great condition so i'm looking for a way to repair it at less expense. Please help. Your replies will be much appreciated.
Thanks, Jon.

I seem to remember there is a wiring fault on these that can cause problems. I think either the loom is faulty or a bad connection under the bonnet. If you Google you might find more info.
