RNEG - trip computer

Post by piotrekwroc »

Hello,
I have a problem with RNEG navigation in Peugeot 207 1.6 HDi 90HP 2009. After pressing the MODE button it switches only between the radio and NAVI, it does not show the on-board computer screen. I updated the soft to the newest one (R50b R50.03) - unfortunately no changes. In DiagBox, all the options related to the on-board/trip computer are active.

There was a F947 error in DiagBox "Fault: absence of the separate control keypad". I switched off the separate keypad in DiagBox, but it didn't help.

Can you help me?

Thank you in advance
Greetings
Piotr

Piotr, this can happen if you have changed certain parameters in Diagbox not meant for Peugeot vehicles. These units were fitted across certain Peugeot, Citroen, & DS models. Each vehicle displays information differently - some has info like the trip information on the multi function screen, others have trip info displayed on a dashboard screen for example.

If the ECU parameters are changed for an incompatible vehicle electronic architecture, then you risk all sorts of issues with your dashboard - I've seen it happen several times when somebody thought it would be cool to change a parameter and then wondered why their car was lit up like a Christmas tree.

I note you have changed some parameters already - I strongly suggest you change it back to the original value.

If you can list the configuration parameters in the MyWay ECU (all of them), and post up your VIN, I might be able to run through them and make sure you have the correct values entered.

There are some options I cannot see - these are usually found when you go onto the RNEG ECU from the Global Test and then into the manual configuration. You have some of the options shown in the BSI, but I can't see the others.

One observation on the data that I have -
"Geographic area of use of the radio" - you have 'SPACE 0' and my data says it should read (Europe). Has this been changed?

The other thing my data says is that the "Heating/ Ventilation" setting should be 'Absent', where you have it set to 'Dual Zone Air Conditioning'. Sometimes this does not mean you do not have it - but that it is not supposed to be set here. You might want to try and change these 2 options back to the values the document I have says and see if that makes a difference.

Also try a BSI reset: follow my procedure here:

BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure

Never disconnect the quad lock connector from the RNEG before disconnecting the battery (but you must follow the procedure in the link) and again when connecting it back again.

The 'Heating / Ventilation' error code F020 may also be because this part is not configured correctly:

Thanks for the advice. I will check them as soon as I have access to the car - around 6 April. I will write if any of these changes helped.

Are these the missing options?

I have 'SPACE 0", I can set SPACE 0, SPACE 2, SPACE 3 and SPACE4, but only SPACE 0 is for Europa. I haven't been changed this.

I can set 'Missing', 'Single zone air conditiong' and 'Dual zone air conditioning'. I set this parameter to 'Missing'. The error F020 (No communication with air conditioning ECU) has disappeared in RADIONAV_RNEG fault reading.

I did it. Unfortunately, there is still no trip computer in RNEG.

Below I attach a few more images with options. Are they set correctly?

Ok, so I've had a look this evening and I have an issue with accessing the specific BSI document for your vehicle, so I cannot compare the options against your picture.

I have looked at the ones you highlighted and they appear to be right.

It took longer as I had to copy your pictures into a single document to make it easier to see - as it kept going to your image hosting service! For future reference you know that you can upload images directly on this forum - just go to the full editor and attach the images from your PC.

So without the document specific to your 207 I cannot verify the options.

Another note for future ref - always take screen shots before changing so you can return the values to the originals in case it goes wrong.

I don't know what else to suggest at this point as without the document it's like the blind leading the blind. I can't use a Citroen one as the whole point is that these vehicles display the data differently - so would defeat the objective.

RNEG cannot be programmed like the older RTx and RT6 series. Flash content is different. No tools are available by default.

@ Zolysys: This is an old post - and we were talking about configuration of the ECU options with Diagbox which is perfectly normal to do. We are not talking about the Magneti Marelli RT* systems. This is the MyWay thread.

I have exactly the same problem as described here but with my Citroen C4 Picasso from 2011. I have checked the screens in Diagbox some time ago, but I could not fix that. It looks as if I had no trip computer at all which seems to be rather strange. My VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]. Is it possible that I have no trip computer or should I try to fix that in Diagbox?

I would not change anything using Diagbox. I suspect this is what the fort owner did and has now mis-configured the BSI for options not designed for the display systems on this vehicle.

The mode should change by briefly pressing the button on the end of the stalk. Each press cycles through the trip computers. What are you getting on the display when you do this?

The problem is there since I've bought the car. In fact I did not check that and previous owner which had the car for one year said only that this never worked for him too.
This button does not do anything as well as mode button on the radio. I remember that when I checked in Diagbox on some keys diagnosis screen, the button itself was ok, because status was changing while I pressed the button.

Ok, so my only thoughts are that the Head unit may already have been replaced by the last owner due to previous issues (which are quite common on these). If that is the case, it may not have been configured correctly, especially if it has come from a different vehicle or a Peugeot.
