SMEG Coding Subwoofer

Post by myneur »

Hi guys. Does anyone know how to code C5 SMEG unit with standard speakers to work with original hifi with subwoofer?
I could replace RNEG in 2012 C5 to SMEG, but the only part of the configuration we don't know how to do is to enable the subwoofer. Thank you a lot!

When you say original HiFi - I assume you are talking about the optional Philips HiFI with the subwoofer in the boot?

The official HiFi option has a separate ECU (8424) that may need configuring and also the BSI itself has a setting that need to be set- 'Presence of an audio equaliser amplifier' to 'present'.

As for the SMEG configuration, depending on the version, some can't be telecoded using Diagbox offline, they may need a live PSA server download to configure them - this will depend on the version though.

Yes, now I have an original RNEG hifi with a subwoofer in a boot. I'd like to replace it with a SMEG unit version 6.1 R20, that is configured for a standard hifi without subwoofer, so I'd need to enable it.
Anything else necessary for the version 6.1 R20? Is the PSA server download necessary for this version?
Thank you a lot for this knowledge!

6.1 R20 is the actual firmware version, not the SMEG unit version. SMEG IV2 is the one that needs server coding IIRC.

It is very tricky, because the problem you have is this:
You cannot telecode the SMEG IV2 unit as I understand it, because it will not appear in the BSI. So to get it into the BSI, the dealer has to download the software to the BSI and this may require another vehicles VIN if your car did not have the original equipment. Not many dealers will do this.

Only when it is programmed into the BSI can the SMEG unit be coded, but again I’m not sure if you can do this with a Diagbox or will need to get the dealer to do it, as it needs the PSA server access.

Thank you, that sounds pretty complex, so it is not probably worth the effort:/

If that is the case, you still may have a problem, because the optional CAN system hi-fi amp system needs to be compatible with the X7’s electronic architecture. This SMEG unit that you have may not be compatible with the 2009 model’s CAN2004 electronic architecture. Hard to say really when factoring in the HiFi option to the problem.
