RT4 to NG4

Hi, everyone. I find a cheap NG4 with display system. So my question is can I change my RT4 system with NG4.

Hi and welcome.

Yes you can. NG4 generally has the MDS services module also fitted, which handles the emergency calls, plus the microphone and emergency speaker power and signal too. The NG4 also uses the high resolution display, so you will need that unless you got one with the NG4 kit (thanks for reminding me Elis)!

Hi, yes I have the display too. I tried the system before change the VIN,everything was ok.The radio was play something,the navigatin was loaded the map. After about minute from speakers I heard a loud signal "BEEP BEEP" and the screen get all white. After that I change the VIN but no difference, the screen is still white and no responding.

So My VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Display - 9663724880

The screen you need is the DG4 High Resolution: which I know is 9804707380, 9673540580, or PSA part numbers 6593 F6 or 65936 Q5. I can't find any reference to 9663724880 - but that is not to say that it won't work, I just don't have the info to link it to the NG4. I suspect the one you have may of been from another vehicle model like the C4.

Regarding the screen problem. You must always wait for the NG4 to power down and stop (allow time for the hard drive to spin down and the unit fan to stop) before removing the connectors and ALWAYS remove the quadlock connector first (the biggest connector), before removing any of the other cables. If you remove the LVDS cable before the Quadlock connector, you can brick the display unit. When refitting the cables - always attach the Quadlock connector last.

I hope you haven't 'bricked' the unit, but have you also changed any programming options in the BSI. Did you fit the MDS service module?

Thanks again. On my RT4 wen is on I heard the fan ,but wen was connected the NG4 that fan never spin. And I think maybe he is not working. If I send you, can you see what is wrong with him? Or some weekend I come with the car and that system and check where is the problem. I hope you are not too far away from me.

I'm actually over 340 miles away from you, and I don't actually do the repair work as a rule.

Maybe that is why it was cheap, as these are very expensive to buy normally - this one is just under £1000:

The beeps would suggest that the unit is not coded to the vehicle properly. But the white screen does not sound good, I suppose there is the possibility that the unit was sold in this state, or that the screen is faulty?

The only thing you could do is to connect it up to the car, ensure it is configured correctly, then use diagbox to do a global test and see what faults it is reporting and list them here.

Hi, how I can reset to factory setings everthing? I mean the audio system and car computer.

There is no magic switch or setting to reset the car's BSI computer - the BSI has to be programmed. It can either be programmed manually, line by line or downloaded from the PSA servers and then STILL must be checked for the correct options manually.

To reset the NG4:

• Long press on the "on/off" button
• Simultaneous press on the "eject" and "volume" buttons

Now is a live. I bay a new display from aliexpress and everything now is ok. But the GPS not working. I can't understand why.

But the price was 34.28£ and everything was 50£ with delivery. Now I need to change the display frame. My frame is 154x88, I need 154x93,5.

What you have to remember is that the Mutli Function Display also contains an ECU and therefore the system won't work fully with any display Martin. It needs to be the DG4 display.

I change only the lcd screen. The ECU is the same.
