That means the immobiliser is not recognising the transponder code.
Lock the car with the fob, and leave the car for 10 minutes. Then unlock it and try and start the car then. It can go into anti scanning mode if you try and start it too many times in a short period of time.

ok thank you i have reconnected the battery, it's been 3 minutes.
If that does not solve the problem, will i have to have the key recoded ?

This happened after i replaced the battery in the keyfob, i am just so worried that if i have to have it recoded that everytime i swap out the battery this will happen, it's very expensive "exercise" to do.

I'm confident replacing the battery does not de-authorise the transponder coded to the ECU.
Is it possible the internal circuit board is now slightly out of alignment inside the case after changing the battery?
I've discovered it only takes barely a millimeter difference to put the transponder just out of range of the ignition ring and fail to communicate. Also check carefully for any dislodged components or tracks damaged on the PCB using a magnifier.

I can't see anything amiss, do you perhaps have any other ideas short of getting it connected to planet peugeot ?

(tried starting after 10 mins still gives me the keys cross image)

Could it possibly be that the battery is flat ?
It does open the car.

Let me give you the full scenario:

I have taken out my car battery to recharge in the house, the next morning when i reconnected the battery, the keyfob did not unlock the car, so i reprogrammed the keyfob to open and lock the car, but the car will not start.

If you didn't allow the car's systems to shutdown properly before disconnecting the battery, that's likely the cause.
Search the forum for "BSI Reset" procedure and follow it to the letter.

Follow this procedure exactly and all should be well. Mike is correct, changing the fob battery does not un-pair the immobiliser chip, but resynchronisation of the key fobs are necessary.

Follow the procedure in my post in the link to get your battery reconnected and the ECUs reinitialised, but don't skip anything.

Thank you both, so does that mean the BSI does have the key's code still saved in it's memory. i have connected and disconnected the car battery a few times since the problem occured, but have not done a BSI reset, nor knew about it.

I see following your steps for the reset i have one bit of a problem.

The right hand side (driver side window) will not open, i usually have to start the car first after the battery reconnect before the driver window will function, but obviously now, the car won't start, so i cannot open the driver side window. Will this prevent me from resetting the BSI ?

As I understand it, you will be opening the driver window at the start of the procedure (so probably can be opened with the engine running, but Marc will clarify this) to allow you to insert the key at the proper time without having to open the door (and thereby upset the reset procedure).

Ok, so as you will need to start everything from scratch, just put the ignition on and quickly open the window. If you can't do this, then I think you have another problem - as in you car battery might need replacing. If it's going into economy mode that quickly, then it may need replacing. A weak battery or one that is at end of life can be the cause of many problems and if it is very bad then it may be discharging and not providing enough power to allow the ECUs to store data or shut down properly which could be causing your synchronisation issues....

Putting on the ignition does not make the windows work, i have to physically start the car, this has happened before, and previously i simply had to start the car for the windows to operate, somewhere this was discussed i just can't recall where but the conclusion was that it is normal for the coupe to do that.
And previosuly had no issues with starting the car.

Also the windows stop to operate after 30 seconds when the engine is switched off.

The battery is in good shape.

But not to worry, i will sit inside the car, and have the rear seats folded so i can connect and disconnect the battery without having to be on the outside thanks.

Just one question, what are the side lights, it's the one's on the very far ends of the mainlights yes ? I think one of my side light globes are not working.

Also step nr 5 on the reconnection procedure tells me to switch on the ignition, should the key with cross signal be gone by that stage ? Should this procedure work ?

Don’t worry about the sidelight bulb blown. Yes the small lights that
Come on with the first turn of the lighting stalk

It is normal for power to the windows to be supplied for 30 seconds after engine is switched off.
