Oxygen sensor

Post by vortexco »

Is there a way to use diagbox to test the oxygen sensor on a Peugeot 407 hdi engine.

I've ran every actuator test, listened for nioses, felt movement, like diagbox says, I can also see values for fuel, pressure, air pressure, etc, but can't seem to, find the oxygen sensor.

My car is very thirsty at the, minute, its down on power. But theres no lumpy idle, runs smooth, and no smoke.

Thank you

Assuming you're talking about one of your listed diesel engines, are you sure it has an oxygen sensor?

As for the symptoms (excessive consumption and lacking power) are there any fault codes stored?

It's a 407 2007 sw 2.2 hdi, there are oxygen sensors listed on ebay etc, it's the twin turbo version, so there's very little information on this engine.

I have absolutely no codes listed, through diagbox apart from the normal glow plugs that every peugeot I've tested seems to have.

I can't even find what values I'm meant to see for the maf sensor, and there's no difference in power, when I unplug it.

If you post up the VIN (which will be automatically obscured by the forum software, but Moderators can still read it) a Moderator will be able to let you know what the car had when it left the factory. This will help narrow down the possibilities.

If you view diagbox live (air) parameters, it will show the Flowmeter (MAF) reference (expected) value and the actual measured MAF value; they should be near enough identical with the latter closely following the former when revving/driving.

It does appear to have an oxygen sensor:

It should be possible to go into Std Parameter measurements to see what the O2 sensor is doing. I would also look to see what the EGR valve is doing - assuming it has position feedback, then it should closely track the requested position. You could also check the injector corrections to see if any look out of place.

OK I've just had my car on my laptop.

Air Flow sensor, when i rev the engine hard there is at max 300 difference in the values, between the expect and actual values.

EGR is at about 23% at idle and when revved it goes to 0%

Injector corrections are at 0003 for all injectors.

As for the oxygen sensors, i cant find the values anywhere in the standard parameters in both the BSI and injector sections.

Any help on my oxygen sensor would be greatly appreciated

OK, sorry I Havnt updated this, I've been busy with various personal things in my life.

I have tried unplugging the oxygen sensor, and got no warnings, and no difference at all.

I have tried unplugging the maf, I got a speed control error, which I guess is normal, but no difference at all in mpg or power.

Does this mean the possibility of the sensors being knackered?
