The indicator stalk is not available separately from parts, it is part of the Comms unit.

The part for the Comms unit is: 6242P3

These are specific to the options, model and electronic architecture of the vehicle, so do not get just any as they all look the same, but there are hundreds of different ones.

As for your second question no. That’s a consequence of changing the factory head unit. It is more than just a radio, it provides access to certain features of the car and configuration options.

You will have to put the original back in to change the clock and to answer your last question, the original head units are VIN coded, there is no radio code, so no need to do anything once it is back in the vehicle.

Does it have to be coded to the car? How would I know which one to get I put that part number into eBay and got a few results and prices. I assume it has to come from a diesel to work? The indicators do work they just don't cancel. I don't have the factory radio I suppose I could get a scrapyard radio and have a dealer code it?

You can get them new or reconditioned here, this should bring up the part I’ve already searched for it.

https://peugeotpartsforsale.com/index.p ... egory_id=0

No this shouldn’t need coding and you don’t have ESP so there won’t be a Steering Wheel Angle Sensor to calibrate.

Nothing to do with diesel or not, it is to do with the right one for the right vehicle. And this is the correct part for your specific vehicle, that’s why we ask for the VIN.

Hi Paul

That code beginning 96**** is usually found on the comms unit itself. The part number I gave you is the PSA part number, but as long as it has 6242P3 it will be the right one for your car.

Is that number stamped on the unit or on the label? I'm going scrapyard surfing :-D

The PSA part won’t be on it anywhere I suspect as these are made by Valeo or Delphi. But PSA use their proprietary codes for parts with the occasional 96* number.

The only way if you are going about it this way is to get the code off the one you have on the car to be sure if you are scrap surfing.

The 207 usually has an RD4 radio head. You could, depending on your whim fit the later compatible RD 45 giving you USB music player, Bluetooth hands free and Bluetooth audio streaming. If you look in the RD4 section of our audio and telematics forum, you will that a few of us have successfully done the upgrade.

If you buy a head unit from someone who specualises in this sort of thing on eBay or Ali express, they will usually do the VIN coding for you before dispatch.

Note that the RD4 family of heads was fitted to many different models, and you need to get one with the correct width of front panel to fit a 207 (which may also fit other models).

And if going for this option you MUST also have the Level 'C' multi Function Display Screen too - it won't work without that as this screen also contains the ECU that controls the Head Unit.

Hi Marc
I went to the scrapyard today and gave the guy the number I was given on this site, he looked at me like I had 2 heads and said any one will do we have heaps of peugeots. How can I identify which one I need and it takes time to get them off. What will happen if I dont use the correct switchec? Nothing? as in nothing working? I will stick to the aftermarket radio for now

The Comms units are specifically designed for the particular electronic architecture in your car and for the various options your vehicle has and the build date. These are electrical control modules that talk to the BSI. They have to be correct or you will have electrical problems elsewhere. That’s why there are so many of them. You could end up with wipers going haywire, lights coming on and off and may cause more electrical problems with the car if you fit the wrong one.

I’ve done a bit of reasearch for you and the long part number would seem to be 96630732XT

So try that, but really do not get one because it looks the same, they mostly look all the same but are not.

Hi Mark
That is great thank you. The scrap yard bloke has a great system for people he "trusts" you go into the yard and take off the part yourself. Then you pay him. I didn't want to be taking off a load of them I think taking the shrouds off would let me check if that number is there. On my car everything works but the indicators dont self cancel I think thats a test fail?
Thanks again you have been a great help!

Have a look at this other thread, click on the second picture to zoom it up. This chap has a 406, and this number was on a label at the location as you can see, so may be in a similar place - depends on the manufacturer of the Comms Unit - Valeo / Delphi etc.

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=61525#p596471

Yes, if they won't cancel then the mechanism is brokem / worn, but stuffed! :-D

Thank you Marc, Interesting read that thread I get the idea now and there are a few on ebay taken off and tested working for similar cost to the scrap yard one I have to take off a car with no window or the doors open and rain getting on everything.

Yes, these will also have been properly removed too, so should be ready to go. Before fitting, open the bonnet close all doors and allow the car to 'sleep' for 4 minutes or so without opening any doors. Then disconnect the battery negative carefully, without allowing it to reconnect. This will allow the car's electrical networks to properly shutdown and memorise any parameters. Then wait another 10 minutes to allow the airbags to discharge.

Then you are good to go - you don't have ESP, so no need to align the steering angle sensor - but be VERY careful with the clock spring in these, they are very sensitive.

When you get the unit, make a post and I'll dig out the removal / fitting notes for you.
