207 battery disconnect procedure

Post by PopPops »

My apologies if this has been covered many time before, but I haven't found anything yet.

We are planning to leave my wife's 10 plate 207 automatic (1.6 petrol) at our house in France for 3 months while we are not there. I am fairly sure the background current drain would mean the battery is flat on our return and I have no means of trickle charging it while we are away, so disconnecting it and then charging it before starting the car on our return would seem the best bet.

On all previous cars I have owned, this would be no problem, however, the 207 has the dreaded BSI which will probably object to this sort of treatment.

The question is, can I lock the car, disconnect the battery and then return at some time later, unlock the car with the key and reconnect the (charged) battery without it all ending in tears?

What would the lock/disconnect unlock/reconnect procedure be?

Many thanks in advance.

Nigel.

Yes, I've done that when I've taken the battery off my car to charge overnight.

BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure

My 307 has an alarm though and an alarm switch on the bonnet, so I had to tape that down. Otherwise the door locks would "bounce" when I tried to lock it with the bonnet up.
