A lot of Citroens have two buttons in the binnacle - one controls the dash light intensity and the other the trip meter.
The method is (usually) to hold in the trip meter button with the ignition off, keep holding it and turn ignition on, keep holding the button in and it should count down to zero or whatever service interval you prefer.

Yours may of course use a different method but that is worth a shot unless someone else knows better.

Hi my dashboard is different I think there is no buttons on the instrument cluster
The trip button is on the end of the window wiper stalk
With which I've tried the same process on

I've enclosed a picture as well of a link to it

Pop your VIN up and I’ll have a look - there are too many variants of these vehicles for a standard answer, as these have Fiat and Ford influences.

I saw a note somewhere saying that it can only be reset with a diagnostic tool on the later vehicles without the instrument panel trip mileage button.

The VIN number is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Ok, so according to my information this needs to be reset using the diagnostic kit - but if it is the same as the 2009 Relay model with the 2.2 engine it can be done by following this procedure exactly:
  • Switch the ignition on
  • Press and hold the accelerator pedal down (fully depressed)
  • Whilst you are holding the accelerator fully down:
  • Press and release the brake pedal a minimum of 6 times and do not release the accelerator pedal whilst doing this.
  • After this, keep the accelerator pedal held fully down for at least 30 seconds.
  • Then release the pedals and turn the ignition off
  • Switch the ignition on
  • The engine oil pressure lamp will flash for 5 seconds to show that the reset has been completed.
  • Switch the ignition off.

Well. that's intuitive!

Thanks for the reply, I did this already to reset the oil light that tells you about time for oil change and flashes five times at start up.. however the process didn't switch off the spanner service light .
This process seems to be for the oil light only .. in the manual it says take it for a Citroen service station which some won't touch it because they didn't do the service.
If it's software reset it's knowing which software to use ..

It may be that the spanner light is telling you that something is wrong with the engine that needs fixing. Either way you're going to need to get the car read by a Lexia/Diagbox or high end generic code reader.

I've checked using my ODB software and says there's no faults .. if one has to buy Extra software or get a garage just to reset a service reminder seems to be a bit unfair for the owners

Ok, so yes, this is for the oil reset - which is normally done during a service. But I can't help you with the service light unfortunately as it is not documented anywhere that I can see.

As these are commercial / mini buses / utility vans they have a multiple of uses and could also be used as minibuses - I'm wondering if it is something to do with ensuring they are serviced regularly so they don't provide an easy way of resetting it for the DIYer.

Our Local Authority 17 seater minibuses and smaller all had to have servicing every few thousand miles and all those special wheel nut tags on and all that malarchy.

It's the same with the Fiat Ducato as these are the same vehicles - again a dealer only option, but in order to comply with the EU legislation on dealers not being able to monopolise the servicing, I think the light goes off automatically after a 1000 miles / km of its own accord.
