C3 2013 1.4HDI. DPF Problem

Post by samjmann »

A friend of mine has the car above, all has been fine until it has gone into limp-home mode. It's been connected to a fault code reader and the codes are:
241 / 2041,
From what he's been told this is failure of the DPF unit. The car is used on around 80% town trips on a cold engine. To get the engine to manually regenerate do you need to use the Lexia software, or can this be done via some third party type software? The car has done this once or twice over the past year, but a fast run has normally cleared the problem, but not this time. Does anyone know of a good independent specialist in the Nottingham area he could visit? Sadly the garage I used in Nottingham for my old C5 has now closed.

Thanks for any help or advice offered. SJM. :)

That code isn't a PSA code - you'll really need to get it read with a Lexia.

It could be that the additive fluid is low - normally you would get a message for this though. So if the car is not getting regularly regenerated it can lead to several strategies to keep trying the regeneration operation. If all these fail, then it will put the light up. A run may not be enough this time. A forced regeneration is a possible solution, but does take a bit of a toll on the system, so make sure you are parked up somewhere over concrete as it will get very hot.

You will need Diagbox / Lexia or a decent system found at professional garages to activate a forced regeneration.

Thanks for he advice Marc. He's taken the car to a garage we know, they say that the software they have will a force a regeneration. As you mentioned, the engine has to be very hot for this to happen they also informed us. I'll post again when I know more. Thanks again, SJM
