C5 mk2 dpf ecu

Post by Simple76 »

Hi problem with c5 dpf ecu. Fault according to scanner ( not Lexia). But a high end snap on scanner . Reports fault with dpf ecu no comms. Have found ecu underneath glove box. Is there any way of testing unit ie supply voltage etc . Or is it interchangeable?. Vehicle is 2005 c5 2.0 hdi

There is no DPF ECU, though there may be a Diesel Additive ECU depending on model/age (my 05 C5 doesn't have one for instance).
The device in the glove box(?) would be the BSI and you'd have a lot more fault codes if that wasn't getting a supply voltage so I'd recommend getting a proper Lexia scan.
What instigated the diagnostic session in the first place?

It’s not the BSI the ecu is bolted to the bulkhead behind glove box . Small box 16pin connector.

On the o/s inner wing? Could well be the additive ECU then.
Marc may be able to pull the wiring diagram(s) but he'd need the VIN first if not already provided.

Again, recommend Lexia as you can test the ECU's functions first before stripping the interior and contortion exercises.

Simple - if you can see the marking EAS300 on the ECU that will be the additive ECU.
There's very rarely anything wrong with them, but determining the fault code would be helpful - are you you sure there is sufficient additive?

Have you reset the additive ECU after filling?

These generic scanners are not really great for PSA cars - Lexia / Diagbox has a lot more info / ability as a rule - but the additive ECU does need to be reset or it will start giving additive warnings at some point if not already. There is no physical level measuring device in the additive tank, it is just an estimate - so the counter needs to be reset. If it isn't done, the injection system will likely activate a backup mode (limp home) that will reduce your engine power until it has been done.

I understand but have reset counters before without a problem. I believe this particular vehicle will not allow this action as there is a fault . Have also tried to operate additive pump with scanner ( which have been successful before) also will not work.
