Hi all,
Newbie here, a good old timing belt enquiry. I have just bought a 2004 Citroen Dispatch 2.0 Hdi, Having already owned a peugot expert (rest its soul) i am somewhat familiar with these but i am no mechanic. The citroen has done 115k with one owner from registration who passed away leaving the vehicle extremely (cosmetically at least) well looked after but without service history. A risky move but i took a punt. My major concern is not knowing if the timing belt has been done or if so when, are there any visible or other warning signs it may be on its way out or should i just stump up and get it done? Any thoughts appreciated, thanks

Re: Citroen Dispatch 2.0 Hdi Timing Belt
Welcome!
Given it's age and fact that failure will knacker the engine, then I would get it changed for peace of mind. It's unlikely to have left any sign that it's been changed, unless someone has helpfully written on the covers!

If you don’t know its history change it. A visual check of a timing belt is NOT a good indicator of its condition.
I have replaced timing belts before that have done 100k miles & they barely look any different to the new one apart from some faded writing.
