C5 X7 heater blower motor resistor location
I have a problem with my Citroen C5 X7 2011 1.6 vtr + nav. The heater blower does not work at times and I think it my be the resistor that is faulty.
Does anyone know where the resistor is located as I have looked under the dash on both sides after removing the trim, but I cannot see it.
I know on my older MK 1 it is located near the steering column, but I cant find it on this car.

OK - in light of your VIN, I've edited this post as your vehicle has a different setup.
So if it is the Air Blower Speed Control Component you want to replace - here is the location and instructions:
1. Removing
Disconnect the battery. Remove :
The clips ( as "a") (Turn a quarter of a turn)
The trim (1) under the fascia (driver’s side) Disconnect the connector of the blower control module ( as "b").
Rotate and detach the blower control module ((following the arrow "c")).
Remove the blower control module (2).
2. Refitting
Refit : The air blower control module (2).
Clip the rotating blower control module.
Reconnect : The air blower control connector module ( as "b").
Refit :
The trim (1) under the fascia (driver’s side)
The clips ( as "a") (Turn a quarter of a turn)
Reconnect the battery.
CAUTION : Perform the operations to be carried out following reconnection of the battery.
Check the operation of the air blower .

Re: C5 X7 heater blower motor resistor location
Thanks for your help my vin is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]. The reason I think it may be the resistor is that the blower stopped working before, when the car was under warranty and I was told by my Citroen dealer that they had to replace the resistor. I did not know there was more than one, the blower stopped working for a day last week but is working OK this week.
I was thinking of buying a replacement if it was possible for me to fit it myself.

Hello Marc
I have remove the panels as per your above post, but I cannot see it.
Is the resistor in the same location on all C5?
Jack

Hi Jack - post up your VIN will you and I'll take a squiz for you. Sometimes in the colder weather with all the condensation, there can be water accumulation in the ventilation internals which can affect the fans - sometimes these will start working again on their own! Anyway once I have your VIN I can see what you have.

Re: C5 X7 heater blower motor resistor location
Jack - I've just noticed now that I have your VIN, that your car is a Left Hand Drive - so the component location will probably be as shown as per the diagrams on the driver's side - whereas the locations are on the passenger side for a RHD.
Here is an overview: So item 10 is the Heater Motor Control Module
4 is the Air Heating Resistance Module

Hi Marc
Thank for that, I've located the housing for the filter, but I cannot see the motor control module.
Do you have a little guide on how to get access to it? I had a look on Ciroen service but cannot find any
Cheers

Re: C5 X7 heater blower motor resistor location
Only what I've posted already in the previous pictures Jack. I can only assume it is tucked either just to the right of the pollen filter or above it. I agree it is hard to locate from that diagram.

Marc
I have found out that the cabin air filter on right hand drive care is on the driver side which make sens as on my car it is on the passenger side.
So on a right hand drive car do you know where is the module compared to the access flap for the filter (nb 5 and 6)?
Cheers

Re: C5 X7 heater blower motor resistor location
Jack - I don't think this is right - the pollen filter is on the passenger side too for a right hand drive - they don't have a different heating bulkhead / system for left / right hand drive vehicles so should be the same - either on the left or on the right hand side as per the diagram regardless of driving position. I've looked at the pollen filter removal procedure for my RHD and it states remove trim (left hand side) as per photos below:

Re: C5 X7 heater blower motor resistor location
I've found it!
It's basically the same as the pictures, but a bit more hidden.
When I took it off the metal fins where very hot, too hot to touch.
Before i buy a new control module, do you have the wiring diagram of the unit, i.e which which pin goes to the blower?
I'm thinking of feeding 12v dc direct to make sure it is not the blower which is dead.
