Re: My turn for a C5!
I did mine with carburettor cleaner James.
That was two years ago and it is still fine.
(unlike the alternator that died a couple of days ago - new one fitted today)

Re: My turn for a C5!
I do have some proper Servisol contact cleaner, if that would do;

James, great news on the blower module
Be careful with Servisol contract cleaner as it also contains a lubricant as well as a gentle solvent...

Re: My turn for a C5!
There are two types of Servisol, one plain isopropanol and one with a lubricant.
I think I paid about £6 for the carb cleaner - from Halfords. Still have most of it left in spite of using it for other degreasing jobs.

Re: My turn for a C5!
I do have a can of Isopropanol in the can, which I could use. The Servisol Super 10 has the lubricant.

Re: My turn for a C5!
I have a gallon of isoprop, problem is delivering it to the MAF wires in a fine enough spray.

Re: My turn for a C5!
Well, it seems that she is appreciating the fact that somebody is actually caring for her. She still is going into 'restricted' mode, but within that she is now accelerating better, and once she has warmed up she comes out of 'restricted' mode, and now will rev over 4,000RPM (and is accelerating well). She is not as quick off the mark as my old C5, but she is definitely getting better. All I can think of is that, as she had not been driven much in the last four months (and then probably just around the yard) things were becoming fouled, and now she is being opened up (and had the air filer, fuel filter, and a possibly split intercooler pipe replaced) things are getting properly warmed up and burning off any crud. Yes, there is still stuff I have to do (oil and filter, screen wash pump, etc.), but she is showing signs that she is a melon and not a lemon.
The heated rear windscreen still is not working, but I need a quick check on it. The aircon system is one that has "Auto" and "Eco" modes. Please could somebody with a similar system turn on the heated windscreen and then see if there is any indication of this on the display (I know there is an orange light on the button)? If there is one it means that, for reasons as yet unknown, the control panel is not seeing the H/R/W coming on (or, possibly, not turning it on).

Re: My turn for a C5!
OK, well, another little advance on getting her better; I managed to replace the faulty reverse switch. Yay!
OK, I hear you ask, why the 'Yay!'? Simple. It is NOT a simple job, and requires a specialist tool. Hang on; replacing a switch is an easy job. No, it isn't, and I will explain why. But first, may I recommend to those poor souls who find they have a faulty reversing switch on their Mk1 C5 they go out and buy one of these first;
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/22mm-3-8-DRI ... :rk:5:pf:0
The clutch on my C5 is hydraulically operated. As the pipe is not that flexible Citroen have (as it approaches the slave cylinder) put a rectangular loop on the pipe (to allow for the required flexibility when the engine/gearbox moves). Unfortunately this is around the reversing switch, which means you cannot use an open ended spanner on the switch. As there is a better than 50/50 chance you will not be able to access the retaining clip (to unplug the cable) you cannot use a normal 22 long socket to remove the switch. This socket does the job well, even if it will be rarely used.

Re: My turn for a C5!
I think that there is a grotty connection on the heated rear windscreen. I now KNOW it works, as a few lines started to clear some condensation. The BSI is DEFINITELY sending the power, as the offside heated mirror worked as well (the one I had to replace), so, when I replace the tailgate glass switch I will then be able to get access to the wiring, so I can spray it with some Servisol and plug/unplug them a few times.

Re: My turn for a C5!
Can anybody tell me is the turbocharger is vacuum operated? If it is, are the pipes specifically shaped (like the intercooler pipes), or can suitable flexible tubing be used? If it can, what IS suitable flexible piping?
The reason I ask is that I do not think (yes, I know, I NEVER think!) the turbocharger IS getting used. Her exhaust is visibly clean (certainly no signs of black smoke), but her power band (when she is not in 'limp' mode) starts close to 3,000RPM. I recall that my previous C5 power band was much lower down (around 1,500RPM).
Thanks for all the help so far (and any forthcoming assistance).
