I'd just like to add, when you do the glass mirror removal, you could use that opportunity to replace the outer shell/cover with a crome one (like C4's, DS3's and the newest C5 CrossTourer have) ... The part number in case you need it is 9425AY (you'll usually find that it is related only to DS3, but several Citroen cars have the exact same outer mirror as well) ...

Could someone reupload that mirror removal guide? On mine other mirror is bit loose between mirror's foot and cover, so I think I have to remove mirror-glass and tighten screws inside mirror cover?

Ah, that's interesting as my driver's door mirror wobbles at B. I didn't realise it was a Citroen "thing".

The passenger door mirror has its own problem though. When in parked position the casing touches the door on the vertical piece around the quarterlight.

Ok, the reason I asked is there is a long procedure and I wanted to get the right bit before posting as it will take a little while to format - I have seen somewhere it mentioning 'removing the headlining' on removing the mirror! That sounds totally bizarre - but I'm thinking you will need to remove the mirror to get to the insides now anyway!

Watch this space and I'll get something together.

Hello. I have a very wobbly drivers side wing mirror - I think it’s wobbly at point A as the post feels sturdy enough. Can is be easily cured? I have the most complicated wing mirror (heated, electrochrome, self indexing, folding) and I’m slightly scared of cracking it open and causing potential damage, unless I know I can stop the wobble.
It rather distracts from the closeting ride when it looks like there’s a earthquake happening behind you.
Any advice much appreciated!

Indeed, at £940.28 for the top of the range mirror fitted to 2008 / 2009 models you want to be very careful. There is no easy fix, but if the wobble is at section A, the only possibility I can see is that there are 2 bolts holding this part on shown as item 7 on the third diagram. Whether or not that is the cause is impossible to tell without stripping the mirror off the car and taking it apart:

WM2.png

Orientation Mechanism (8)
Protector (9)
To get to the mirror mechanism, the door card needs to come away so that the securing bolts and connectors can be removed to release the mirror. Then all the shell components have to be removed to get to the orientation mechanism - not for the faint hearted. There is no guarantee that it is the bolts that have worked loose, but it is a likely possibility.

Brilliant. Thanks Marc. I’m not afraid of large scale disassemly but I like to have a grasp of the construction first so this is very helpful. It’s definitely the whole upper part that wobbles so I think your deductions are correct. I had the door car off yesterday as I was upgrading my speakers, but I think I’ll stock up on panel clips and let my nerves recover before I go back in again! If I manage to cure it, I’ll report back.
Thanks again.

No problems, but if you get the chance, a few pics and a little write up would certainly be appreciated for future reference.

I will post up the disassembly procedure of the mirror for you this morning so it helps with sequence of removal. You may or may not need to do everything listed, as it is a strip down, but may be useful.

Thank you Marc! Sorry, I’ve only just spotted your last reply. I haven’t attempted the door mirror repair yet, as I’ve been sorting more pressing matters. I will report back if I’m able to cure the problem.

I have an issue with my nearside wing mirror after it was bent back while travelling forward. It closes as normal when I lock the car, but no longer opens to the correct position.

Something in the workings has I imagine become mis-aligned. I have tried gently rotating it firmly but carefully, but it clicks into the wrong position again. What do I need to do to re-orientate it? The glass is not broken. I can take a picture in daylight.
My other car is a 2cv
