Re: C5 X7 ambient lighting (and some other bits and pieces)
I know, but it would be a tragedy for me to be the first one to have the 19" wheels stolen, which took me 2 years to find them ... at least I want to have usable security bolts in reserve just in case ... what will actually come to the wheels is still not decided ...

Are you trying to say Citroen Alloys are uncool?????? Ok, there are some naff looking ones in the range, but equally there are some really nice looking rims too!Stickyfinger wrote:why bother fitting them....who steals Citroen wheels ?

Re: C5 X7 ambient lighting (and some other bits and pieces)
The first one is a good lead ... what about the connector dimensions, with that I could be certain to order the exact connector I need (there are some variants, very similar to each other) ...

Re: C5 X7 ambient lighting (and some other bits and pieces)
I'll check with the connectors that might be available, if their base looks like in the photos, I'll take a chance and get one, hopefully with enough extra existing wires to connect the ECU to the car and see if it actually works (if it doesn't, no point in ordering the TPMS antenna, right?) ...

Re: C5 X7 ambient lighting (and some other bits and pieces)
Now we're making some progress .. the security bolts are off, new ones fitted in ... didn't have to pay a thing ... the weather is quite nice today, and I'm looking forward to fitting the 19" on the car by the end of the day

Re: C5 X7 ambient lighting (and some other bits and pieces)
The 19" are up ... managed to jack the car on one side high enough to be able to replace both wheels on one side. The center caps are missing, but they're on their way. Before doing a test drive, I've changed the ABS/ESP ECU settings to the newly fitted tyre size, just to be on the safe side (and yes, teleconfiguration works properly on my DiagBox V7.82 - I just lost the display language to english - it was croatian before 7.76 I think - but that doesn't bother me).
The test drive went OK, and here are my findings after 10 miles (taking the daily road to work, that I know like the back of my hand):
- the steering wheel is heavier (logical), and I like it better this way
- the road noise is different, sounds a bit dampened, but the noise level would be on par with the previous 17" Nokians
- the car feels stiffer, but the comfort isn't lacking in any way (if this makes sense to you)
- the road bumps now create a more dampened thud, compared to the sound the previous wheels made (less noise though)
- the horizontal damage on the road (including potholes, shafts, ridges etc.) is less pronounced with the 19" - this definitely was a pleasant surprise
Overall, so far, I'd say the ride quality is even better than it was before, since the 19" absorb the horizontal problems with less stress ... the car feels sportier (personal preference will be the judge of this) ... I don't feel I lost anything on the Citroen comfort (remember: non-hydractive in my case) ... now, why is this so, is it the sheer wheel size, the Michelin PA3's or a combination of both ... I don't honestly know ...
For those few that are wondering, about the weight gain ... the old wheels measured 22,3 kg each ... the new wheels are 24,5 each ... not bad IMO ...

Re: C5 X7 ambient lighting (and some other bits and pieces)
I've thought about it before opting for the genuine reversing camera, this is overkill IMO ... if it was like the bmw's have, small cameras in the front bumper, one on each side, so you could get a side view from the road junction while the cabin is blocked by wall i.e, that would be something, the 360° is too much even for me ... if you can't drive the car by feel, at least the 270° in front of you, then to hell with it ...
