... and on another note, I'm very close to acquiring a rare gem, for a fair price (Tourer only), if all goes well ... obviously, something that I didn't have on mine, but some other models have ... :D ... and, no, it's not the exhaust tip ... chances are I'll sooner find a living dinosaur than one of those ...

Found one for you....in my Garden of all places !

a living dinosaur that is.

Rear window screens ?

Do you happen to have any photos of the LED design that shine down on the gear-stick area from the roof ?, the little orange ones that are on all the time.

Fairly close actually, but no ... :)

I've never took apart my ceiling unit (where the orange lights in question are), I think the closest image(s) that I have would be in my navigation project, where I've had to install the microphone in a car that didn't have it ... http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... 30#p417794. The Doc photo looks like this (the orange light is module #5):

So, today's project ... slightly related to what I actually bought the other day and is on its way, hopefully I'll receive it by the end of the week. I've managed to find and order the chrome strips yesterday, all 4 for some 60 GBP.

Now, the chrome strips aren't in great cosmetic condition, they're "foggy" and lost their shine, so I guess I need to use some magic to have them shine once again ... I've tried using just the microfiber cloth, made no impact ... this stuff any good?

Well, mine have gone the same and as they aren't actually 'chrome' this won't do any good either. They are just 'chrome effect'. I'm still trying out various lotions, potions and creams to try and get them shining, but it seems whatever they have coated the strips in just absorbs the liquid and has a very temporary effect. Next day they look all misty again! Let me know if you find something that works and I'll do the same!

Edit: Actually technically they are 'chromed' plastic as chroming is the process itself regardless of what is underneath - metal or anything suitable. What I meant is the plastic coating is like anything else - if what is underneath is badly dulled then the plastic coating / lacquer will need to come off, polish up the chrome plate then reapply the lacquer again.

Cheers buddy.....thinking about these "down-lights" for the Activa :)

Re the chrome, your missing the rear window ones with the tourer letters in them.

Btw, they are coated polished alloy I believe, you will need to take off the coating, polish and repaint with "plastic" lacquer. (as you can do for copper kettles etc to keep them bright)

I'm going to try distilled white vinegar as soon as we have a break in the rain, as I've heard this is great if gently dabbed on and left for a few minutes before being buffed off. Just don't soak any parts in it. I'll let you know how they come out, but certainly wouldn't recommend anything abrasive like metal polish as of course the trim is plastic coated!

Who says I'm missing them, they're on their way ... :D ... but the thing is, the Tourer letters are actually rare on cars in my area, mostly they're blank plastic plates (without the word Tourer engraved into it) ...

Better than the original, will see if I'll attempt doing the same on my blue color, it might look good

In case anyone's still interested about the chrome strips - white vinegar just cleaned the chrome strips but did not get rid of the haze. Tried some Wonder Wheels Resin Polish after and that just made the haze shinier  So unless anyone else has a solution, I'm putting it down to poor manufacturing.
PS The coloured lettering looks great.

Received the Tourer panels today, and its 50/50 ... they're in great physical shape, nothing broken, but the cosmetic side is a let down (I am picky about those things), but can't argue for the price ... will see tomorrow if my Citroen Service can whip something up with some polishing materials to make them shiny and remove the scuffs ... or maybe I'll get them repainted in the car's color (a thought I had after figuring out what to do)
