xsara picasso 2.0 hdi starting problem

Post by idkdelta45 »

Hi,new to forum so be gentle plz. Have 53 plate xsara picasso with 150k miles, well serviced and used daily as a taxi. Recently had a new clutch put in but still had a problem. Mechanic had a look and found a problem with gearbox. Got a gearbox from a scrap car had it fitted and when car put back together it will not start. Tried and tried til battery went flatbut no luck. Mechanic says nothing out of ordinary happened to car, only he had touched it so lm a bit stuck. Plan to get it plugged in but with the easter bank holiday its going to be a week. As its a taxi l cant work so any suggestions of what l can try would be well appreciated. Thanks in advance.

first thing is to look if he has left any plug connectors of or not fully re/fitted any,

secondly
check the crank sensor if it has one pointing to the flywheel,

also check the map in the link below for FCF members who own DIS-LEXIAS in your area

I agree maybe crank sensor.

I don't know what it is but with the few HDi clutches I've done (307's mainly) they needed a new TDC sensor before they ran, and I tried taking it out the second time (before going too far) but it still never worked again.

i would only replace the TDC crank sensor after checking all/any plug connectors around the gear box area

Checked all plugs, all seemed fully connected. Rang about getting it plugged in and its getting plugged in Friday 5th. Changed the crank sensor anyway before hand, thought it wouldn't hurt to have a new one. Will update you when l get the results from the diagnostic machine. Lets just hope he can get the thing running again. Thanks for the advice guys!

Check the earth strap on engine/gearbox, common problem for them not to be reconnected or to be loose after clutch change.
