Battery / BSi Reset

Post by corsehf »

Quick question?

Firstly, i have a new(er) C5 as my old one died.
The new one is as 2003 model and i put a new battery on it at the weekend but the new car didn't respond to my old routine of powering up a C5 or Battery/BSi Reset, in fact it seemed it didn't need it??

My old 2001 SX worked well with the reset but is there a different reset for a 2003 Exclusive SE model??

I swap batteries on the 2003 C5 to keep a good Xantia battery charged.
I take the battery out and the one that’s sat in the garage for months goes straight in without any rituals.
There’s only ever a beep from the dash, and nothing else.
Sometimes the radio doesn’t get the time to lose the stations. Image
That’s for when everything behaves itself, otherwise it’s as per Malcolm above.

I can't!!! - in my case, the wipers won't stop!!!

Does anyone know what the BSi Reset sequence is for a later model 2003/4 up ???

Thanks Clogz for that,

That's a bit easier than the older method.
Will try it later when i get back to the car.
Hopefully, the wipers haven't restarted on their own and flattened the battery and/or coated the screen in rubber!!! (separate thread!!)

I can whip my battery in out without any ritual apart from the obligatory lock / unlock key in and wait 30 seconds for the security stuff to sort itself out and reset the radio.

It's no good hoping that some mystical ritual is going to sort out the wiper sorry to say I think you have a real problem :-(

Hmmm, my old 2001 C5 would never start unless i went through the 'BSi Ritual'. this involved turning the side lights on, holding the lock button on the fob for 10 seconds, locking & unlocking doors then starting the engine.
If i didn't do that in that order, the car wouldn't start with an 'engine immobiliser fault' message.

Clogzz, your 'ritual' worked - and the wipers are working as they should :) although i'm not pushing my luck just yet!!
