First Xantia To Get An ASBO.

Post by user_3150 »

Hello everyone any help greatly accepted.
As you can see from the title I am not in my neighbours goodbooks. The Alarm keep's activating of it's own accord. Once it was just after I set it (going round closing the door's again seems to solve it) or it randomly activates at any time (99.9 % of the time at night AARRGGHHH). I have just found out from the Neighbour's that it happens quite frequently but the first time I heard it was 4o'clock this morning. Two other thing's that MAY be linked. The boot lock somtimes takes 2 - 5 attempt's before it lock's and also when I unlock the car the Clock reset's itself sometimes.

Well you could eliminate the volumetric ultrasonics by using the disable button when you lock it. If the alarm still goes off for no reason then at least you will know that it's probably not a duff transducer. Might be worth checking the state of the battery also, and the terminals which are less than reliable.

Pull fuse 17 - end of story no more noisy alarm.
If its not the sensors on the doors (about 25 quid from GSF) then start looking at the ECU under the passenger seat - remove the seat! Ecu about £150
Pull fuse 17 - cheaper.

When you've got a swimming pool in the passenger side footwells (like my '97 had) it adversely affects the alarm [:)]
If its wet down there you have a problem.

I'm going for fuse 17 I think. I do get damp but it's under the passenger seat's not in the footwell. I will also try the interior sensors as well. Thank's for the quick replies. Locked it on the key for tonight will look again tommorrow.

Alec - under the passenger seat is where the ECU lives - with all its (ropey) connectors.
Could be the probelm.
Seek the leak - and dry out the ECU and all may be peaceful again!
