1.9 HDi

Post by user_3150 »

Is there such a thing. I have been looking for bit's and piece's on the web and some site's state a Xantia 1.9 hdi. Was this just in certain countries or have they got it mixed up because of the 90 - 110 bhp.

As far as i know they are 2.0ltr.90/110 in the Xantia.
In other PSA cars,theres also 1.4 HDI,70/90bhp.2.2 136 bhp,the new 16V 2.0 136bhp.2.8 128 bhp in vans.
1.9 must just be a misprint.[:)]

Is the DW8 (in the Berlingo) the 1.9 HDI or is it not HDI?

The Haynes Xsara manual makes reference to 1905cc (XUD) and 1868cc (DW8)diesels. The DW10TD is the 90bhp HDI as fitted to most Citroens including the Picasso.
Quote "The DW8 is virtually identical to the 1.9 XUD apart from revisions to the cylinder head cover and fuel system components. The 2.0 DW10TD is similar to the XUD in terms of the engine block components, but the remainder of the engine has been redesigned"
There is plenty of info discussing the differences between the 1.9 XUD and the 2.0 DW10 (HDI).

I thought the DW8 was the NASP version of the HDI?

Its not HDi at all, HDi stands for High pressure Direct Injection: The DW8 is still the low pressure system used on the old XUD and it still uses the indirect injection system ala XUD.

Don't they now do a 1.6 HDi ala 307 and 206? Isn't that 110bhp also?

The DW8 is the same block as the XUD, in the same way that the DW10 is the same block, they share the same parentage. Apparently there isn't a whole lot of difference between the DW8 and the XUD, the DW8 is slightly smaller.
The DW10 is really a bored out XUD block with new heads direct injection heads, the HDI system and other small modifications, in fact the DW10ATED (HDI 110) shares the same crankshaft with the XUD9TD.
