Broke Connector on Vaccum Pump Citroen Xsara

Post by thumbless »

Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.6L HDI Diesel Hatch Back 5Door

Broke Vaccum hose connector on Vaccum pump on side of engine when my hand slipped when working on Fuel filter and snapped it.
Orderd a new vaccum pump as i had problems with brakes.
Now i have damaged connector on vaccum pump hose and i need a replacement female connector.
Hose looks plastic and heat shrunk onto a ribbed connector that i cant get off.
Tried looking at vaccum hoses on ebay and not many there.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi

Looks like the hose is only available complete from Citroen:

Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT Total incl. VAT Selection
0000457834 BRAKE VAC HOSE 25.36 GBP 30.43 GBP 30.43 GBP

(I think that's the one, not exactly clear how it fits together)

One on e-bay for half the money: Brake hose

If it was mine, I'd just bodge it I think - cut the old clip off, and then use a piece of rubber hose and two jubilee clips to put it back together.

I believe boiling water will soften the pipe enough to make it let go, that or a hot air gun, I would suggest a breakers yard for another connector and a length of pipe, then you could either remake the original setup or splice the pipe using a barbed fuel line connector inside or a length of appropriate sized rubber hose that is a firm push fit on the outside.

Its brakes, just buy a new pipe. Last bodge you want to find out wasn't quite good enough is the one on the brakes.
