cd changer won't eject

Post by harryp »

Hi all,
Having sourced a radio for my hdi exclusive, the cd cassette in the boot will not eject when pressing the eject button :( . With advice, have managed to remove it from it's very clingy box, but where to now? Are there checks I can make, such as applying 12volts to the correct pin on the cassette plug? Anyone know the pin out for plug and socket? I don't know whether it's a faulty supply problem or a faulty cassette. Next step I guess will be to remove the outer case......?? 8-[ .

Which radio/cassette/cd? If I have read you question right, you are having trouble with the cd multi changer in the boot of your Xantia. Is your new 'radio' a new head unit of the same make?

Is it a clarion, phillips or blaupunkt system?

hi Miked,
Thanks for reply.... :)
The cassette unit is a Clarion; just checked the radio and it's a Phillips :? . Does this mean they are incompatible?. Would have have thought they might conform to a standard :? . Did Citroen change the radios halfway through 2000 and do Phillips do a cassette too then?. If so I guess I need a paired system; which begs the next question - where to obtain?? Anyone?

I don't know if he has any, but Paul (citroenxm) would be my first port of call.

I (think) it is the same unit I had in my old Mk1 C5.....if so

Inside the unit I found lot of dirt clogging up the eject/load tray/mech. I sat down with a try and the telly, took it apart a bit, cleaned and greased it....worked fine after that.

Also cheap on EBay

Success of a sort :? . Had a few mins free so tried again. No supply on any pin on the boot plug. After wondering why there was a small square plug in a rectangular socket, had a good long firkle in the radio hole, so to speak, and found another plug :o .As you will all know, these clip together #-o . Plugged the cassette in and the eject worked - so far so good. Problem is that the radio will not see the cassette. Manual says pressing the rds button should cycle through radio, tape, cassette, but no such luck. Just radio and tape :( . Bought the radio of a Forum member who had it working with a Cassette. Is there a Phillips, or are they all Clarion?

This is quite confusing :(

Any chance you could put a picture up of the front of the radio incase the button that needs to be pressed is different from the RDS button?

OK, this is the first time I have tried this  .
Have taken a pic of radio and CD Cassette in question.
http://s1295.photobucket.com/user/Harry ... t=3&page=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Plugged in radio, checked it worked, plugged in cassette, mechanism can eject. Sorry said RDS in post   , actually meant SRC. (Copied in the Manual page header #-o .)
I cannot get a CD to play :( as the SRC button only toggles between Radio and Tape. Any ideas please? Does this require Lexia involvement......?

sounds like the AUX has to be enabled by the Lexia (or another method I do not know) if the CD changer (will show as Aux 1 or 2) is not shown when you press mode.

Are you sure you've inserted the cd the right way round in the changer?

good point, but it should still toggle between sources and one of them should be the AUX channel ?

Yes, CD in correct way round. Source not being seen on toggling! Anyone know which wire is which? Guess I can trace wires from Radio plug to cassette plug.

I think (?) even with the Xantia you have to tell the Lexia to activate it, others will know .......

Are you using the existing wires ?

I don't think that's correct, I can't recall seeing anything like that on Lexia with a Xantia, as far as I'm aware CD changers on Xantia's are plug and play.
