I remember Jim wasn'y that struck on it but for me absolutely gorgeous and well worthy of the classics spotting thread.

Harrogate July 2017 Studebaker Avanti

The Avanti name should be longer, so it could translate as back to front.

(not just the current parking position, the whole car anyway - imagine no headlights there ...)

Edit: OK, I've seen other views of it, bonnet quite long, I retract that idea)

I sat in Martin Shaw's own car for a couple of minutes thirty something years ago - a getting on a bit left hand drive fairly big Mercedes with an about 6 litre V8 engine.

He admitted it wasn't efficient, but he liked it so much anyway.

Lovely gathering of Rover P6's and other classic Rovers at Ryhope Engines Museum at Sunderland

I love the Rover P6, but was impressed with this too
n falcon own work
n falcon own work
There was a nice trio of Rover 60, Rover 90, and a very impressive Rover 100 two-tone
Rover 100/90/60
Rover 100/90/60
and the P6....there were Cameron Green, Brigade Red, Lunar Grey, Almond, Atlantis blue but have to go for the one with the mango interior and I do like a tartan travel rug!

Yes, Arctic White. There was also an Old English White, used on early cars, and a white called Pendelican.
Restrained and muted colours suited P6 rather well. The bright Monza Red was an exception. Traditional P4 and P5 strong colours like Burgundy just didn't work.
Good example was Lunar Grey, which you might think from a sample swatch was as dull as dishwater, but on the car looked splendid.

They must have known you were coming to the show, Neil. Mango interior AND a tartan travel rug ? What are the chances of that happening ?
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

My idea of hell would be a late (SD1-coloured) P6 in Avocado, with Mango interior.
We had one of those last-off-the-line 1977 2200's turn up* at our 25th Anniversary Ally Pally Rally in 1988. We managed to get 400 P6's together for the day. Bache and King were both there, along with some others from Solihull, so a bit of a special day. David Bache said they'd never seen so many P6's in one place, not even at the factory. Some, he remarked, were in better fettle than when they left the gates. :?

* Trailered in, with just a genuine 21 miles on the clock, original (dealer-fit) Radiomobile and aerial in the boot. Avovado and Mango: no-one was interested, just aghast. Asking price was £1200 iirc.

From nice shiny Rovers in beautiful condition, to a fairly rough looking ugly duckling...but still captured my interest!

I was watching the Jeremy Thorpe drama earlier, in which a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow appeared briefly.

I looked up the registration. The online MOT check shows it has done only about 12,000 miles from new, including 213 in the last 12 years.

It belongs to quite a large car collection, over 400 cars

Superb Gallery there Andy, although viewing it is making my less than adequate IT set up creak!

Did drop in on a 1959 Triumph Bonneville "Tangerine Dream" in my perusing.

idly browsing Youtube earlier, this was most entertaining. While the video itself isn't the best of quality, the Reporter's commentary on Devon holiday traffic of the early 1970's is most amusing.

Cars of interest I noted were a Pug 304 Est and a Renault 6

I'd just finished watching the "Hillman Hunter GLS Some Go Quicker Than Others" video, which is also interesting. Seemed an unlikely choice to me, but appears to go rather well.
Makes you think how many companies past & present are part of our familiar PSA/Citroen/Renault brands. Hillman, Simca, Chrysler UK, Talbot and Sunbeam come immediately to mind, there's probably many more
