Dreaded bsi ecu swap important info for future

Post by Roadrally »

Just a note for anyone that requires a replacement bsi or ecu.
If you purchase a 'complete set' off certain web based auction sites then you will require the vin number from the vehicle they were taken from. If you do not have the original vin then you will not be able to get the pin code to program in new keys or match ecu/bsi in the future.
If either go for repair in the future and are 'virginized' you will not be able to match them back.
There are some EEPROM readers that claim to be able to get this information via obd2 but are very expensive.

Just thought people should know before they open a whole can of worms!
