Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

If you're measuring voltage drop across the ends of the fuse when the lights are on, and assuming a 55 watt lamp, the fuse holders have a resistance of 0.05 of an ohm (one twentieth of an ohm). Doesn't seem too bad.
On the other hand, you could be measuring current, resistance, capacitance, temperature, length, circumference or anything else!...

When I check the readings on the fuses in the fuse box, most things read zero when on as expected, however the lights all give very small readings, usually 0.2. Could this be an earthing fault? Or a possible short somewhere? Any help would be great. thanks

The heater blower only works on volume 4!! any suggestions? I can;t even see an easy way to get to the back of it - but I've heard that the rheostat (which I presume is the problem) is located away from the switch.

You don't need slack in a bearing for it to be worn out.

It appears to be from the back and there's no slack in the bearing.
Has anyone had this problem with a Megane at all who could maybe enlighten me to what the problem may be?

I have a dry bearing type noise comimg from the engine, 1.4 16V, which i cannot locate or identify. It has been suggested that it could be the water pump bearing which is worn allowing the pump to catch on the housing.
Has any one had this problem or make other comments as to the possible cause.

That sounds very much like the problem I've just fixed on my 21.
In my case it was the strut bearings- these allow the strut to rotate for steering. On my 21 they were stiff, meaning that the spring was winding up instead of turning. Sometimes the spring would shift and cause a steering pull because it was wanting to spring back into its proper...

Thermostat stuck open seems most likely.

I am trying to remove the wheel trims from a Clio (51 plate).
The manual says to use a T shaped spanner and fit it into the holes on the outside of the trim.
Am i being silly, cos i still can't get the things off!

Chances are that it's a normal Bosch or Marelli item; have you had a look for any part numbers on the bulb itself and tried a cross reference in Google or such like?
You can be sure that Renault pay as little as possible which normally means it's the same as a few other manufacturers' units.

Just got a big shock from my local renault dealer.... I contacted them for a price for a replacement HID Xenon headlight bulb for my Laguna 2 and I was glad I was sat down!!!!
£150.97 + VAT each!!!!!! (just the bulb)

It sounds like something external has come adrift.
My mate had a similar experience in a SAAB 9000 Turbo and it turned out that the actuator rod had come away from the waste gate, it only took a circlip to restore full power.

Along with my coolant leak I have an oil leak to the right hand side of the engine it isnt spraying up off the drive shaft but it is wet over a large area on the side of the engine.
It seemms as though it could be around the distributur which is bolted to the side of the block Is it possible it could spray via the seal. Has anybody else had...

Guessing a bit from my experiences with other cars.
Usually these are secured with a captive spring clip. Simply tap the joint with a mallet around where the driveshaft goes in. It is easier with the driveshaft completely off the vehicle.

The fuel gauge in my Laguna (1.8) shows a normal reading when parked but when driving off the needles drops. I know and expect some movement on the gauge but this is literally dropping to empty from 1/4 tankful. I suspect this is the sender unit? Coolant temperature sensor - has been reported as problematic on other forums. Don't know specifics for this car / enegine, but shouldn't cost too much to change out. Mind you, if your mechanic has not thought of this, perhaps it's time you found another...??

We have just had a new fan belt and since then the car sounds terrible when turning. The engine also sounds very fast until after 4th gear.
We had a lot problems with the power steering fluid leaking and wonder if this is causing the creaking. We have been quoted £200 to put in new power steering tubes, does anyone have a cheaper solution....

I have a 96 1.8 Laguna RT. I've had too many problems to list, my current one seems to be electrical. My temp guage increases with engine speed. Its had a flush and new water pump and rad before plus I've most of the earth points have been checked. Any help would be good. Before changing the main gearbox earth strap when the rear heater control...

r19 with single point injection failed mot on high idle speed and high lamda reading.I replaced the coolant temp sensor in case this was giving a wrong reading and richening the mixture but this has nothelped .anyone any ideas? thanks in advance J

I have a 2.2 1998 Diesel Espace, and have been reliably informed thatt he headgasket has gone (air coming up into the header tank and will not run) Cant get anyone to take the job on and have been quoted stupid money by Renault. Sounds very much like the inner wishbone mounting bushes. Just because parts are quite new doesn't mean they can be taken for granted.
Having said that a similar problem on my Escort turned out to be a loose engine/gearbox mounting. The movement of the engine was throwing the car off line. Since it's a recently installed engine that's a good place...

Has anyone ever wondered what the noise is coming from the front of your CLIO / R19 etc,sometimes worse when going round corners,sounds like growling ,and can be noisy,or just moans as you drive along....
This is almost sure to be wheel bearings,so,,so common on these cars ,whilst not to dangerous it is annoying and better to renew,not to hard but...

This ones for the W/shop .,from here engine may be in default,
the main correcting factor for a F/Injection engine is coolant sensor in cyl head,WILL couse probs on cold start and heating up ,,AN engine on limp home mode can run quite well when HOT,because default settings are programmed on hot engine 80c ,BUT when engine cold,operating starter...

I have a 96 Megane Classic 1.6. For about 6 months now the car will not drive smoothly (Kangaroo's) at 30-40 mph, in addition in the last week it has started to stall when cold and the engine management light has started to come on whilst driving. (can fault codes be read without any specialist equ.?)

I have a 2003 1.9 Dci Laguna II hatch and am averaging 41 MPG, in my previous car, a Passat doing the same mileage and driving style I was getting 50 MPG. I have had the car checked by the garage but they say nothing is wrong but I am not so sure as I believe they should at least be equal.
Has anyone else with a Laguna II attained a better fuel...

I think you'll find the Megane has an electric dash not shaft driven but what it sounds like is that the test for the display is interferring or the button is sticking.If your car has the push button scroller for MPG read out on the right hand stalk, before you turn the car on press and hold and then turn on the ignition but don't start the car,...

I've seen this question elsewhere here. Apparently the gauges are unlikely to be used in a garage anyway and you just need to be able to twist the belt 90 degrees in the middle of its longest run.
Haynes are being cautious to avoid compensation claims.

HI just got myself a nice we clio diesel but want to change the belt I was suprise to find that Haynes recommend the use of a special gauge I've done loads of Citroen belts with no problems does this mean I cant do it or am I best getting a garage to do it?

I have a 94 Laguna 2.0 RT. Over the last couple of weeks, when turning the wheel, there is a loud creaking noise coming from somewhere. It doesnt matter which way i turn the wheel. I have checked the power steering fluid reservoir and it is full. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be ?

Have you tried taking the heater pipes off and running a garden hose through the matrix both ways? Of course, that could possibly expose a leak but it's a risk you'd have to take.
It's also possible that either the temp control valve or its linkage is faulty. Or that the system hasn't been bled propely, the heater control should be on hot when...

I made the mistake of buying a Safrane !
The heater doesn't work and I think it's the Matrix
pipes into the bulkhead are hot but the blower blows cold air !
Not nice this time of year !
renault have quoted £850 to replace the matrix !! (more than car is worth !! well almost !)
Does anyone know the risks of DIY with effect to the passenger Air bag...
