Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Got a 405 here 1995 with the XU5 engine (1.6)

Basically it has not been running right. Idling high (what are they supposed to idel at? I always thought about 800rpm?) and not returning to idle on overrun. It would also just lose all power when you went to throttle up.

I discovered a fuel leak in the engine bay which was down to a loose clip....

There may be a couple of issues here, with the engine running check the voltage across the battery to ensure it is stable at just above 14v.

As for the fast idle speed look/listen carefully for an intake leak beyond the throttle butterfly, including any disconnected vacuum hoses.

Hi this is another post on behalf of my son, He has fitted a towbar to his wifes 307 ( it's an 02 plate 2l hdi ) but is unsure of the wiring , Can bus ???????? . Are there any experts out there with wiring diagrams and do you need to use special relays ? regards John.

Think i've solved the problem myself

Dealer I bought it from is adament that its correct one.

Another dealer also claimed that it was correct but back tracked upon questioning and admitted they had ckecked for a face lift model despite being told it was an 02 plate.

2 other dealers list a different part and this is on order so fingers crossed...

Hi, could somebody let me know the correct grade ATF for the MB3 auto as fitted to the saxo and 106.

See my other post regarding the box issues. The box has now been replaced, and final fitting is taking place tomorrow, so need to obtain the correct grade ATF for it.

Citrojim suggested it is Dextron III, but the factors said it's Dextron II, so...

Having witnessed a bunch of 306 anoraks get the handbags out on another forum on this same subject, I can offer the following words on the D-Turbo:
It came in 1.9TD and 2.0HDI form.

The D-Turbo S only came on 1.9TD form, with 90 or 92 bhp depending on whether it was made in 95 or 97).

Otherwise they were identical trim and equipment-wise

Hi all
Just bought my dad a 1999 406 HDi estate, came with a CD changer in the boot but it wont work, it will eject the cartridge, load and go through the cds but wont play at all, when i press the CD button on the radio it does nothing, no message, no change in the display (tried the stalk too for mode)
Any ideas on commom problems with it?

i am intending to buy a 306 hdi thats done 143000miles, can anyone give me a guide on what to look out for on a car thats done this kind of milleage. the cambelt was replcaed 2006 other than that i dont know much else.

A family member has a 306 hdi but hasnt done many miles in it so hes not much help.

All the usual checks.

I'd want to know what life it's had - regular long journeys, or punishing short ones.
The service intervals on HDis are pretty long, so you'd want to avoid a neglected one.

Any diesel Pug or Cit will go on and on with regular servicing, but they don't cope with being ignored.
My Xsara does a 100 mile commute on the m-way...

A friend of mine has a 106 that he bought for his wife to learn to drive in. The car is a S reg XL Auto, and it's only covered 22000 miles from new. He got the car for a a song, due to having a fault with the auto box.

However, the auto box problem. It won't kick down, it won't select 1st or 2nd, it will only drive in what feels like 3rd gear. It...

One thing I have noticed on mine is that when the sport and winter lights are flashing I still have use of all 4 gears, whereas I thought that also meant reduced functionality, i.e. 3rd gear only.

I have a problem with the passenger side widow, it goes down but will not go up, this is on both drivers side and passengers switches, I've powered the motor up and it goes up and down no problem, I've swapped both the switches for the rear ones and still no change.

BTW it's a 95 XTDT.

Please help.

Ps. It's my car but one of the 4 Peugeots in...

i have a 306xs phase1 and the engine will not stop running when key removed from ignition (i have to disconect the batter). I have noticed that there are lights on the dash and the imobiliser seems to be bypassed (it will start without code being entered). It looks very much like the double injection relay has been bypassed and the ECU is permanantly powered. Incredibly dangerous.

Maybe the double injection relay failed and this was a bodge to get round it.

It really needs some Pug 306 wiring diagrams which I don't have unfortunately. I can only offer a generic wiring diagram showing the general...

Anyone know how long I need to leave the battery out of my 405 before the radio will reset from SECURITY ?

I have a long drive next week and don't fancy complete silence (well 1.9TD clatter) for the entire trip.

OK I now have the radio working again, it seems to reset after about 1 hour 45mins, However don't turn off the radio by mistake like I did as that also resets the timer. Oh well at least that was one good bit out of a horrendous drive the last two days.

Hi,

I've got a 206 1.6 8v, year 2000. Service light just came on; 2 years and 15000 miles since its last service. Car now has 88000 miles.

I am wondering whether to get it serviced at the dealer or do it myself. Firstly I have already had the cambelt changed so that's the major stuff done. What else needs doing? I think it's a major service but...

I'd also give it some new plugs and leads as you're no sure wich service it is,
that way you still save money and get a proper service done.
The service light reset on a 406 is = push trip counter reset buton, then turn on ignistion and hold the buton in untill the service light stops flashing and resets it's self, I would think it's the same for...

Hi
When cold and setting off downhill, it is a bit rough on very low throttle and grey/or blueish smoke is evident.
I've put some injector cleaner thro' on low tank & given good hard run but no difference.
The smoke is not there once warm, but the slight stutter is always there on the lowest of throttle.
Suprisingly enough we also had the same on...

I have just been pulled up and been told i have no brake lights on my y reg 406 dose any body know what number the fuse is ( i have checked them all be i just want to double check ) failing that as any body got any ideas about getting the switch out it looks a right s**t to get to, cheers daz

Check the bulbs, i know its a simple idea, but remember the 406 has double filament bulbs on the rears, make sure the lower of the two filaments hasn't blown.

I recently posted a topic about swapping my fuel injection pump on 406 1.9 TD

Hello. I have a 2007 307 hdi 110 and the water tem has dropped to 70 degree's. It used to run at 80 degree's. I have checked with 4 other people who drive 307's with the same engine & all there's run at 80 degree's. The car has covered 70,000 miles & has always been serviced. Hi all, does anyone know the location of the drain pipe on an 05 plate 307 SW 1.6HDI.

Every time I use the air con it smells foul, I have tried one of the air con cleaning kits but this has not worked. When the air con is running I can't see any water coming from under the car so I am guessing the pipe is blocked.

I AM INSANE, I make my own biodiesel in the garden shed, as long as you have a well built reactor and follow the H&S thing PPE ect, it can be done safely and cost less than 16ppl, my 405 (lucas) loves the stuff and I havent paid pump prices for over 10k :D

basically if we get any frost or its really cold at night, when my mum comes to go to work in it in the morning, it starts perfectly normally but when she pulls off the drive and goes to go up the street, the car has no power, its so bad it really struggles to get to 30mph, even 15-20 actually

Hi guys,

My 405 has started making a slight rumbling/grinding noise at speed, in particular when right hand lock is applied. I'm assuming it's a wheel bearing? It's been like this for 2-3k now. I looked at the Haynes, and it looks a right pain to change. Is there an easier way for a poorly equiped novice to do this job? Or is it off to a garage...

Having a lot of fueling issues with my 306 TD (1.9, 1995, 224K). I am pretty confident that it is the boost diaphragm, as I have been making small adjustments for a while and the 'lack of power' or 'smokey' symptoms change accordingly.

The pump is a Lucas one with the aneroid disk on the front of the pump.

The Remote key on my 406 is playing up, i'm petty sure it's the key as it's pretty battered up and if i keep at it it'll work.
It's the single button type for a 99 S reg, i want to get another one but new ones are too dear and the single button ones are quite rare on ebay, what other key will work?

I recently posted about the engine management light, this was a result of replacing the clutch cable. The advise given was that i should follow the cable in the hope that a connecter had come loose.

I tried but the engine bay is a nightmare specially where the cable is situated, sort of behind the engine close to the back of the dashboard. Any...

Right I took the 405 to National Tyres this morning for its MOT.

Got a phone call from them about midday telling me that it had failed on a few things: Headlights aimed too low, (I reckon I'd left the manual adjust wound down, silly me forgot to check). Front brake pipes excessively corroded, one rear pipe same, and the rear brake load sening...

Does anyone know if these are to atmosphere via fuel cap or sealed?

My 406 has a lumpy idle at startup in the morning. However, by releasing the fuel cap and letting air in it's fine.

I assume there's a blocked breather somewhere?

The Horn is not working on my 55reg Pug 307.
It doesnt work with the double press of the key fob either. i have tested the fuse and it is ok and i can hear the relay opertaing when i get my son to press the steering wheel.
i took the conection off the horn and have 10.9v DC across the
terminal with nothing pressed and the engine on....any help...

Right, had a quick look at the heating system, cant find a pollen filter and haven't checked the drains bu, there's no fine spray when i put the blowers on full and i've found that if i put the air con on, even with the temp set to warm, the windows clear almost instantly but with the a/c off it steams up and i can smell coolant. i had to look at a customers 206 1.4 TU petrol on thursday, i pluged my DIAG in and on a global check it came up with engine ECU not responding,

after trying diferant routes i got a message up saying engine ECU locked,

Can anyone help me? I have acquired a replacement pump on ebay from a scrapped 406 TD for my 406 TD - mine has been damaged by a previous owner.

Hi All, recently aquired a 1.4 306 of 1998 vintage.Seems to have a few worrying gremlins as follows:
Wont tickover but revs and runs fine at higher rpms
Both fans and aircon seems to turn itself on when engine runs even from cold (unsure if it is related to the first problem)
Also has the usual wiring trouble to the doors (mirrors and windows not...

if your car has the large round plug conectoers at this point you can buy a repair piece from peugeot, which is the plug with abunch of tails (wires) for the body section of loom that you cut and patch into the piller loom, the part is around 57 squid each side

The temperature gauge is not likely to be related. Either the thermostat has siad its farewells or the gauge sensor is duff. It's worth checking its connections by pulling the sensor connector off the sensor (located on the thermostat housing) as sometimes coolant penetrates the connector and corrodes it.

Wondering if I've got a wheel bearing going on my 306, it only has 55,000 miles but from time to time and especially at higher speeds there is a squealing/squeaking sound from around the front drivers side wheel. Turning the wheel slightly left will stop the noise only for it to return when you straighten up the wheel or turn right. I've jacked...

Hi, I haven't posted for ages, just recovered my password recently.
A good friend Has a Peugeot 306 1600 petrol on an N plate at 97,000 miles.

Hi,

Does anyone know if there are different types of rain sensor depending on glass type for the 306?
My rain sensor was working perfectly with the original screen (heat reflective type), however they no longer work with the new (standard tint) screen. All I can get is intermittent.
The car is a 2001 x reg 1.4LX.

The screen type shouldn't make any difference, but it might be that you need to reset the autowipe function, it tells you in the handbokk how to do it.
