Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hello, I've got a C4 vts that doesn't spin the compressor. I've had a search through the posts on here but can't find a step by step guide to solving the problem. The previous owner said he'd had a quote of 1000€, but couldn't remember what the garage diagnosed. (Citroen dealership). I also don't know if they're clued up or not having never used...

Hi, My electrician says my compressor needs replacing, so I've been looking around for a replacement. However this has been more confusing than I thought.
If I put in my model details in a product finder I get a different unit than what Service Box recommends.

The unit in the car is a SD7C16- 1305F. Service Box part number is 6453RS for a new...

I probably know the answer, but I'll ask anyway....

Topped up AC and it barely lasted a day. That was 3yrs ago.

Being a black car, it heats up something rotten in the Scottish summer...but that half day each July is a lesson in driving naked and trying to avoid wasps while windows are open :rofl2:

Leaks are notoriously hard to localise - even with a dye. It took 4 trips to my dealer before they found the leak (top of the condenser). But shortly after, it crapped out again and needed a new compressor - probably after all the filling and leaking / filling leaking - so probably was short on oil and damaged the compressor.

Something which I've become acutely aware of lately is that the Xantia suffers badly from being designed with the general expectation of being fitted with air con.

The cooling/ventilation performance without it is pretty impressively poor. Having no air conditioning and a black leather interior has rendered it a thoroughly unpleasant place to be...

Although there were several variants of the A/C pipes, I expect that the version you need was used on more than the TCT.

I have on several occasions had A/C hoses for classic cars remade with new flexible sections fitted to old metal ends. The trick is finding someone with the correct crimping tools and the expertise to get everything aligned...

Looks like I have a worn compressor drive shaft seal on the Xantia (evidence oil below clutch and loss of refrigerant). Has anyone done a DIY job and replaced the seal? Not sure but believe it is a sanden compressor. Thanks in advance.

Having had my aircon working properly now since the overhaul I have noticed two main characteristics of using it:
1) Fuel consumption goes up significantly
2) Power away from the lights is reduced.

I now automatically turn off the aircon when stationary or approaching junctions and hills to give me max power if needed. That means I use less fuel...

Hi wonder if anybody can help me out I've got a c4 Picasso 2014 model and the fan/blower speed is very slow even tho is on full in the controls. I changed the pollen filters the other day and it's not made any difference. Is there a resistor or something else that could have gone? The fan does work just very low output from it

Ever since I've had the 407 Coupe the air con hasn't worked on it. When I tried to get it gassed it appeared to be pressure tight and took all of the gas without any problems. When the car was started and the compressor kicked in though all hell broke loose and it looked as if there was smoke coming from under the bonnet!

I have just taken out my aircon compressor which is an SD7V16 from the car and unfortunately two of the spacers from the mountings dropped out before I had seen them in place. Thus I'm looking for an exploded diagram of the actual compressor to engine mountings so I can work out what goes where when I refit it after I have replaced the clutch coil...

New to me 2008 C5 X7 2.0 HDI VTR+

Symptoms
Start engine (on tickover) with A/C on temps set to LO
After a few seconds A/C clutch cuts in
After 30 secs A/C clutch drops out

Checks/Work done so far
Clutch operation normal i.e. 12V > on, 0v > off
Regassed with 625gm R134a
No leaks
Manifold gauges show 55psi with engine off and cold. (Ambient temp...

Well done. If you can open up the old module you may well find some solder joins that have failed. If you have a soldering iron you probably can repair the module, and then you have a spare, just in case.

Hello everyone. Just registered as i have been trying to get to the bottom of an issue with my wife's 2011 Citroën C3 1.6 vti 120 Exclusive Auto. The car has electronic climate control and works intermittently, when it's very warm the compressor doesn't engage and the engine cooling fan doesn't run.

Be aware that the A/C system will be shut down if any fault is detected in the engine cooling system, such as a faulty fan or speed controller, or even the thermostat heater (if fitted). You really need to get all of the fault codes read for the A/C system and the engine ECU.

Since a refrigerant recharge last summer my air con had all but lost all effectiveness and the system hissed loudly inside the cabin, the usual sign of low refrigerant charge.

When I checked the pressures, I found the low side pulling down to 0 psi and the high side was really low for a 134a system.

Hi, I have a AX here and want to fit an airco system in.

What is all required?

6457 Y4 kit?

So Far I know:

Airco pump w/ bracket
condensor
pressure regulator
fan switch 3 pin
seperate box for a/c
tubing
radiator interior
and a computer that can run an a/c?

The highest output I can see from all the AX alternators is a 90 Amp Alternator in various brands. They go from 50 amp to 90 amp which includes models with air conditioning fitted. So as long as you don't have a load of amplifiers and a recording studio in the back you should be ok.

No I dont have a lot of audio in the car just basic two...

Hello everyone i will be glad if someone can help me with this. I replaced the polen filter and since then i can’t turn off the fan on air con. Just blowing on max speed all the time. Trying to turn off or adjust from control panel not doing anything. Any ideas!

The blower motor is probably faulty then. They do fail and this is one of the symptoms.
How does that work Marc? TBH I can't see how the motor can be faulty and give this symptom.

Hello again, went to the local citroen garage today for a regas....and he found a leak. The first suspician he had was due to evacuation taking too long. He said that the condenser is the usual fault, put some dye in and you could hear a hiss coming from behind the rad but because it's hidden no sign of the leak. I have a couple of questions....

I have just bought a 2006 Citroen C5 1.6HDi 16v VTR estate.

I don't have an owners handbook and am trying to figure out how to get the A/C working. I can get air coming out, but even with (what I assume to be) the temp at Min. the air coming out is always warmer than outside air. I am not sure whether this is because I am not using it correctly...

Make sure to go to a proper a/c capable garage. Places like Halfords just add gas to the a/c system. Specialists will evacuate and separate the original contents of the a/c system, put a vacuum test (to test for any leaks) on for twenty minutes or so, then add in the oil, U/V dye and refrigerant. The process should typically take an hour or so....

Espace 2008. Regassed with Envitosafe gass to 50psi as i also did last summer and AC was cooling good. Compressor engages fine and makes pressure to drop to about 30psi.
The GPS screen did go dark in the beginning of the winter so I'm not sure if the outside temperature sensor is working as the temperature is supposed to be displayed on that...

You may or may not be aware that there's currently a drive underway to phase out the use of R134a which most relatively recent air conditioning systems use.

The effect this has had is that it's vastly pushed the wholesale prices for the refrigerant up. This is only going to get worse.

The local garage I've used for stuff like this currently...

Just a quick question: Whilst browsing the menus of Diagbox under the climate control live parameters there only appears to be temperature sensors in the ducts supplying air to the passenger compartment. I don't believe the C5 has actual temperature sensors in the passenger cabin like other cars with CC do.

I really like how the fan speed is...

I have an 2006 english xsara Pic that is re registered on to spanish plates - get that out the way! A couple years back the aircon called it a day, I took it to a local garage who showed me the compressor needed replacing, but they wouldn't do it due to the price! If I bought the unit they would fit it etc etc, well if I bought it I could fit it...

Thanks for the reply, I'll fit the unit and leave the connection loose until I get to the refill station.

I should have said the garage didn't want to get and fit a unit due to the cost - it was almost 700€ over here. The owner didn't want me to feel as though he was ripping me off on charges, the reason why he said if I get the unit he would fit...

Not overly difficult but you'll more than likely need a special tool to separate the spring lock connector where the metal section connects onto the metal pipe by the inner wing, they aren't expensive or difficult to find, a quick google will reveal all.

After filling both our Ford Focus and Citroen C5 with Envirosafe BP leak stop and gas mix and getting very efficient result. I have noe discovered that Renault for some unknown reason have decided to use the thicker 16mm quick cupling that all other car brands (correct me?) have chosen to use a 13mm coupling on.

The top panel is clipped to the bumper, I replaced the condenser on my 2009 C5 without removing the bumper, unfortunately I can't recall the exact details as it was a few years ago but IIRc it went in from above.

Have removed damaged condensor on wife's C3 and am about to order replacement.

The double O ring seals on the two pipes seem to be OK but should I use some sort of lubricant or sealant when I fit the new condensor.

If so, then what should I use?

Air conditioning blows ambient air temp. Air con pipes in engine bay hot. Dealer says the air con is correctly gassed, has the latest type of gas ?. Sounds all wrong to me. Ideas welcome

Following on from my other post in the peugeot forum is it possible for the compressor to be dead even though the clutch kicks in and carries on spinning??

Reason I ask is that my 2008 308 aircon still won't work. I thought it was a problem with the slow speed cooling fan not working, have since changed the fan assembly, brand new slow speed...

Just replaced condenser on Xsara Picasso 1.6hHdi and regassed and all now cold but I have a slight concern regarding the operation.
Basically, when in slow speed traffic or stationary the high speed fan comes on for about 20 seconds every minute or so, the compressor declutches, the fan goes back to low speed, compressor engages and the cycle...

As the original poster I thought I would just post a follow up on this thread now that it has been resurrected.
The aircon system has been untouched since my original post and it is still behaving exactly the same and still very cold so it would appear that I have not lost much gas in the intervening period.

I need a new refrigernat pressure sensor for my '96 ph2 Safrane. I can't seem to find new ones, at least not for a reasonable price.
Since the AC system is pretty much the same in all cars, i suppose some other car's sensor would do the job if it fits physically.
I suppose the sensor operation and values are pretty much the same anyway.

i took my vehicle to an air conditioning specialist and he said the car needs a new motor. i logged on a website for parts but couldn't find any motor , but instead had plenty of other parts available for something such as this.

the air conditioning system does not turn on at all, it is completely dead. once, it did turn on at a set of traffic...

I had my '96 Safrane's aircon filled but it still doesn't work. At least there weren't any major leaks and the machine decided it was ok to refill.

The AC text appears on screen when requested, but when it's warm enough for it to start there appears service text too and the compressor never engages.

Got the abovelights flashing on dash. Citrojim suggests a problem possibly with connectors , sensors etc.

Can I confirm the double fans are a similar set up to 1.9TD but what are the differences.

How do I set both fans spinning ie brwon sensor on 1.9TD pulled will cause both fans to spin at full speed.

I´v got a Citroen C5 2002 that i´m fixing for a friend.
The aircon heater only outputs 37 degrees celcius accordning to autocom at full heat.
It´s an dual aircon, and it´s the same temperature on both ducts.

Made a realisation a little while ago that the rattling noise in my engine bay that I had been scratching my head about the source of for a while stops completely when the compressor is running.

My guess is that this is due to wear in the bearings in the free wheeling mechanism on the compressor pulley.

Well, I don't know what happened to my post. So oil continue here. Thanks for the info Jim, when I checked the readings today I had batt voltage on the orange wire, regardless of the speed position.
I'll have to get the control panel out tomorrow, see if there's a loose connection.

Hi. I have a C5 VTR PLUS NAV HDI (2010). Air-con wasn’t working so I had it filled up about 6 weeks ago. When it was being filled I was told that ‘it held a vacuum, so it looks good’ and it did work very well when I tested it on the way home, the screen iced up etc.

Hi all,

I have a fault with my car and wandered if anyone can shed some light on the issue? when I turn my aircon on, the light activates but I hear no motor kick nor is there any other noise to indicate something is happening. Diagbox shows aircon OK (clutch OK, pressure OK)
Clutch fails to engage when AC button pressed.
When clutch engaged (using direct connection to battery) the compressor gets v. hot (my spit boils on compressor after 4 mins).
Just found the single radiator cooling fan has failed (open circuit across power connection).

I have recently acquired a 405 with an XU5 engine and icy cold air conditioning. I'll be installing an XUD lump soon, and would like to keep the AC as it seems to be working so well.
