Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Having had a word with Jim at the dsm rally regarding the air con or lack of, he suggested that before i rather drastically removed the compressor i check if any power was getting to the clutch.

Having just been under it and tested it, there is not a sausage! so maybe it can be salvaged after all!

This is the circuit of the MK2 aircon system and the compressor clutch is item 8020.

I have got everything off exept the last connection on the condenser which is some sort of spring connection which I can't work out how to remove. :?

when the climate control system is active on my synergie i loose coolant, but if i shut the system off i don't . i always thought the 2 systems were completely seperate so they shouldn't effect each other.
any ideas as to what my problem could be???

I'd suggest its water too, we used to get a lot of people come back with their first car with A/C (especially in hot weather) as they thought it was leaking.

A drip drip of water (assuming it is water, and not coolant) is normal as the moisture is taken out of the conditioned air and it has to go somewhere, usually a drain pipe fitted underneath.

I have had problems with my Citroen's Harrison V5 1135253 compressor. The original was leaking from the joint between the two halves. So last year I replace it with a second hand one- which had the same problem!!

This year I bought a brand new one for 350 €... which I have just put on, only to charge the system and it's not working :(...

No pictures, but a small dissertation.

Fan was becoming erratic, stopping dead and other times crackling audibly with a smell of ozone. Like many people, I thought Aha! Brushes need doing ...

Looking at Fleabay I determined the likely original brush length, then opened the motor up. Surprise! Plenty of brush left, plenty of spring pressure...

HI Forum

I've decided to try to change the seals of my Harrison 1135253 compressor, after the replacement failed in the same place as my old one!

However, i cant get the first nut undone, as the pulley spins with the nut.

Where can i get the tool for this and are there any other tools i'll need??

Hi,

I have a Xsara HDI 110hp sx and have just had a new condenser fitted and the system re-gassed.

The engineer thought that the fan was faulty as it dos'nt switch on when the a/c is turned on.If I run the car to get hot the fan cuts in 3/4 of the way on the temp guage.The aircon light comes on when pressed.

Any ideas guys.This is driving me...

Aircon was working fine,ceased suddenly, light in switch illuminates but clutch on compressor does not engage. Took car to a so called specialist, came back for a bill for regassing and a painful estimate for a replacement compressor. Not happy so connected 12v directly to clutch, works perfectly, cold air to car. what else can I try?. more...

I'd be looking at the blower motor connections, as the blower has to be on to engage the AC.

Not sure if it's of any use, but my Xantia won't allow me to run the Air Con when the Engine Cooling Fan is on FAST.

Hi All,

I've just acquired a W plate HDi Exclusive. I've fixed a couple of the minor niggles, but as is usual, the big one is still left to resolve.

Simply put, the heater is stuck on hot . I believe the temperature control has become disconnected from the flap which controls the temperature somewhere in the depths of the dashboard. The A/C,...

you will have to take the heater contol box out and unclip the lid to make sure the cable is connected that end but first take the glove box out and the carpet trim below it and on the right hand side of the passenger footwell up under the dash is the heater diverter flap, not too bad to get at, they just have not hooked the cable up after doing...

Hi all, my 2000 hdi 2ltr A/C is not cooling due to the engine fans not being switched on by the A/C panel or relay, has anyone got any info as to where the relay is? the fan comes on with the water temp switch and the A/C system is working ok its just the condenser cant cool the refrigerant due to fans not on.

My MPV (which known as Evasion in Malaysia) YM 1997.
Air cond control switch panel was malfunction. The aircond automaticly swich on while the engine was started. I cannot control anyting such as cool temp, blower speed ext.

No no no not a blocked condensor but probably a smelly evaporator.
You can buy a spray to clean up a/c from Halfords etc.

I have a 2.0 HDI 2001 Synergie and this has only just started happening.

Even when you first start the car and it's cold if you have the A/C on the temp light flashes like it's overheating when it's not. Have checked all water levels etc and they are good, anyone else come across this?

Ive come accross the Flashing light on Xantia HDi's

Its signalling engine over temperture... HOWEVER, it can also be triggered by a Faulty Relay.

I had this on a W reg Xantia HDi, after a Lexia session, the Slow Running Fan relay curcuit was short out... so there was no slow running fans available, so, on the xantias the 3 relays are located...

My new Activa will not be a every day car, and i dont use aircon that much, my Mondeo and the Transit have air con if i need the luxury :lol:

I need to remove the air-con rad and relocate the fans further back, the intercooler will be uprated for a front mount in the lower grille, with the current set up these is less than 2 inches between...

Its not the Altinator that moves places with or without air con, its the HP Pump that moves... at least on the XUD models, not sure about petrols though...

If you litterally remove the Air Con compressor, you can then route the belt : OFF top of crank pully, under upper tensioner, up over HP PUMP, down to the ECCENTRIC roller, up to TOP of...

Hi all, I have an annoying fault with my aircon, ren laguna 1.9dci initiale 53 plate. It works fine until I have to rev the engine past 2200 or so rpm (about 80-82 mph). It seems like the compressor does not want to function at this engine speed and beyond.
The only way I can get the compressor to re-engage is to push the cluth in so the revs drop...

Well, it didn't take long did it? :roll:

Only had it for 2 weeks, and the aircon isn't working. It appears (from Lexia) to be cutting out after a few seconds operation due to a High Pressure safety alarm. Does anyone know what would cause this?

Got the same problem with my c3! The temp gauge shoots to max and an alarm sounds, my rad fan does not kick in ( there is just the one? ) and there is a hissing noise when the air con is turned on. Did you get yours working again?

Cassy's had aircon trouble before I met her, with a green dye already present in her gas.
Had her re-gassed about two years ago and no leaks were found, but she's been slowly losing gas since then, with larger bubbles appearing in the sightglass, with it barely cooling in recent weeks.

All sorted and didn't cost a penny, just a trip to Jim's :)

Shorting pins 1 and 2 (the two fat wires) as a test didn't get a result on the compressor, so working with Jim and his circuit diagrams we found the cause of no life at the compressor.

We've swapped the fuel pump for an older fully mechanical pump, so the K light is perminantly on as...

All relays changed, fuses tested and checked, crud wiring changed.

Engine running the aircon is working but the Condensor fan and Radiator fan are not.

Testing both fans show them to be working.

So any suggestions as to why they don't run when engine and aircon running and a solution would be appreciated.

The clutch went on the pump, so I have a replacement pump now from a similar car with the same specification if different year. I'm intending to bolt this one into place, hoping it is that simple. I have had it degassed, hopefully replacing it today since I have the day.

I am now wondering what the torque settings for the unions and to bolt it to...

I'm about to change the aircon compressor on my Citroen Xantia. I seem to remember hearing that i should change the dryer at the same time??

My general question is: What should I change aswell as the compressor?

Sorry I can't be of more help as I have little to no experience of A/C systems other than common knowledge.

What I can say is that compressor came from a filled system (on removal I accidentally punctured the condensor and the gas leaked out) and in my care, have not noticed any oil seepage from the compressor so, hopefully, there's...

hi all, sorry if this has sort of been asked before :roll:

I have put my first ever car into kwikfit for an AC test (the other half did really).. it leaks, unknown source :twisted:
I have never worked on AC ..

I can say that during my engine out/in summer 2008 I would have disconnected the compressor, and also due to a slight altercation later...

If you are in the area of these guys , I used them a few years ago for what could have been a very expensive job (recomissioning the A/C on my E-type which had not been used for 20 years). Their pricing was transparent and reasonable. They were simply very good to deal with.

Hi folks.

I found a leak on my Xantia AC and got it fixed. I changed the dryer unit as well, knowing the system had been 'open' for a few months so I thought it was a good precautionary measure. I then took the car to Kwik Fit to get it regassed, knowing that if it leaked again I wouldn't get charged.

Anyway I got it regassed, and it worked for...

Yes sorry, I meant to say that it was the low pressure pipe! Where am I best looking for a replacement pipe? I was thinking of a scrappers but it's surprisingly difficult to find this pipe, which is pretty annoying.

The compressor is attached to the sump on my car, I know the high pressure suspension/steering pump sometimes attaches here on...

Can anyone advise me on what i should do with my Harisson compressor (Citroen Xantia Turbo diesel) that was leaking from where the two halves meet? It now is too bad to fill the sytem, so the A/C is kaput.

Are the seals replaceable?

or should I just replace the compressor?

54 1.5dci Scenic. When I hit the a/c switch there is a little click (relay?) and nothing else. Revs don't drop and temperature stays the same. Assuming French a/c is fairly similar does anyone have a clue where to start as all my other a/c cars worked? :(

is anyone elses air con on a scenic 2 poor mine either needs re gassing or its just crap went in a volvo the other day and within 5 mins it was freezing in the car mine is slightly cooler than the fan on its own any ideas

I decided to try re-gassing my Aircon on my Xantia. Went to Halfords and looked at their options.
I decided to get the refill kit, £39 inc free aircon system cleaner kit that cleans the car inside of bacteria. Did the job in less than ten minutes. Car now a lot cooler, smells 100% cleaner and I now have the pressure gauge needed to...

I got the air con regassed on my 2003 Mégane in May last year by Kwik Fit. It's been used regularly as it automatically comes on with the demisting programme so was on quite a bit in winter. But now that the weather has got hot, it's hopeless. There is no difference with the AC on or off. I can hear it kicking in, but the air is not cold!

Having been very pleased that my my air con was gassed and worked I thought i would test it today, and found it to be very lacklustre.
I noticed a small amount of bright green fluid leaking from the sensor on the drier bottle :(

Also inside the drier bottle (through the sight glass ) it was bubling green.

I guess this means a new drier and...

Got it done for free, and its now blowing properly cold!
Just replaced the drier and pressure sensor and all is now good.
For how long though remains to be seen!

Hello all this is my first post. Ive been looking at the site for a couple of days and decided to join today.

First off my problem lied with the aircon and fans cutting out. So i did the relay mod, which got the fans up and working plus the light for the aircon to go on.
Now the comppressor for the air con does not kick in when i press the button...

Hi all

Car went in for air con service yesterday as not getting cold.

Garage tested and compressor u/s replacement plus filter, parts, flush etc. looking at £700 - 800.

On a 2002 C5 I have to ask is there a cheaper alternative way for repair, quoted £400 for compressor, seen on ebay new patent £285 but still means a fair few £££'s to fork out...

hi i have a 2.2 hdi serise 1 c5 with climate control wich is most unusual in that the drivers side will blow out what ever temp you set it for but the passangers side only blows hot air all the time no matter what temp you put it at this also happens when the air cons on anyone have any ideas :D

thanks for that tried it but no go i did find out something else though what ever temp you have srt when you first start the car is what you get say 16 degs if you then increse the temp it goes up but wont come down any ideas :wink:

there is hot air coming out the vents when I turn the aircon. on.
In the engine compartment the aircon. pipes are freezing cold.

Need to get Juliet's A/C regassed, and her dryer is looking old and tired so I'd like to change that too.
So far I've only found ones for nearly £100, but I'm sure people reported getting them for closer to £30.
Was I imagining things or are there more reasonably priced versions available and if so, where from?

Owner before me told me that mechanicker changed belt and put diferent, used for non a.c. models. There is also not two, but only one belt tensor.

I have found error. It was little dificult, because it is not fabric a.c., but build after. That means that relays, and everything is NOT on place where is supoused to be... And diagrams from standard a.c. are not valid.
But, it helped that I had some diagrams from this forum, and started from that point. I have found relays, and one of them...

the aircon system has been left without gas for 3 years or so and is then recharged ? Will anything have suffered or been damaged ?

Never sectioned one but rumor has it that the dryer contains silica gel and when it gets saturated the containing bag bursts and the resultant mess gets spread all round the system. This then overloads the compressor and burns it out. Chances are the system is then inadequately flushed and the residual debris slowly works round the system then...

Hi all,
My Citroen garage tells me there's no gas in my AirCon system - suspect leak... However the cost to investigate, possibly repair, was quoted as an un-specified pile of cash.
Does anyone know someone honest and reliable out there in the South East who can fix my AC system without making me bankrupt?

The air con compressor on my 2002 110 HDi SX Xsara has packed up and needs replacing. I have been told that it is wise to replace the receiver/dryer at the same time. Is this really necessary and if so how difficult is it to do?

This is an elusive piece of kit as I still cannot locate it. Looks like Citroen in their wisdom have buried it away somewhere. There are pipes leading under the driver's side wing but without taking the liner out you cannot see properly and there does not seem to be enough room under...

My Xant 1.9TD Est has the heater fan problem so I rewired that last weekend (thanks to this forum) :lol: . I had to take the feed for the new relay from the Cigar Lighter after first changing the position of the fuse so that the Cigar lighter only works with the ignition on.

Today I've had the air con serviced £60 +VAT :D and now freezing cold...

What I noticed with Cassy was when the button is pressed on idle, the compressor kicks in for a while then disengages.

Did you know that if you don't at least change your air con cabin filters once a year you could contract leigonnaires disease, it has flu like symptoms and is a form of Pneunomia.

Smokers & people with respitory conditions ie asthma are more suseptable to contracting Leigonnaires Disease.
